On November 8, 2018, Acting Governor Gavin Newsom proclaimed a state of emergency in Butte County as a result of the Camp Fire, which has threatened thousands of homes, forced the closure of roadways and continues to threaten homes and critical infrastructure, necessitating the evacuation of residents. Consequently, Commissioner of Business Oversight Jan Lynn Owen has determined that an extraordinary situation exists in Butte County and has issued a proclamation authorizing state-chartered banks to close any or all of their offices in affected areas until the Commissioner determines the extraordinary condition has ended.
